Heather started in public accounting right out of college and worked in public accounting for about 15 years for 2 different firms.  When she started her own practice in 2015 and reflected back on her experience in public accounting, she realized she most enjoyed working with non-profit organizations for two reasons:  their unique nature and their vision-related work.  Their accounting, operations, compliance, and reporting are unique and understood less than for-profit organizations.  Nonprofit organizations often struggle with accounting, board development, and industry compliance because their resources and energy are focused on vision related work.  She stumbled into nonprofit accounting inadvertently, but once she got involved in board service for a local organization and began helping that organization navigate their challenges, she realized this was an area of service she was passionate about and where she could make a difference.  Today, HJ Hudson Consulting empowers non-profit organizations to broadcast their vision by journeying next to them.  They guide, equip and protect non-profit organizations by providing the resources and connections to bolster their organizational structure, systems, relationships, strategic accomplishment, and fiscal management.
